Teayam and the magic butterfly

Teayam's is a fellow redbubble
There was a challenge in one of the groups at RB to select a fellow red bubbler and vickydust him/her, This is my entry for it. I spent a lot of time on this piece. I started with a pencil drawing of Teayam's face on a paper. A digital photograph was then scanned and put to a series of paints and gradients to produce it. Sometimes I wonder at the whole process. I just know where to start, not knowing where to end or how to end. But I enjoy this process. Colors make me happy and sane. They provide a meaning to my otherwise meaningless existence :D

Roll on

I woke up seeing a crazy insect scurrying in front of my eyes. Fuck, I later realized that the poor guy would be more scared than I was. Well, I have been having my lows. Have not been really feeling my hundred percent. Let me explain you what that feeling exactly means in a little detail and a little scientifically. Lets say that we compress the size of the day from 24 to 6 hours and I fast forward whatever I do four times to fit into the day, what we get here is an output which is 16 times of what I am producing as of now. Well, I might not be completely accurate in the mathematics, but I think, I have roughly conveyed what I am looking for.
I did some random drawings today and helped S with some of his research diagrams. I havent completed them, will need to sit for some more time on it with him. They are 3 D diagrams on his research related to distributed networks. That s the closest I am these days to the world of IT.

Earth Hour

Saturday 28th of March is Earth Hour. This year WWF (no not the World Wrestling Federation, the other one) are aiming to get 1 billion people to switch off their lights between 8:30-9:30pm local time.
This is a small attempt to show my love for the greens and I hope that each one of us can make efforts in preserving the Nature that we are blessed with.

IF Subtract

Get the meaning? Subtraction leads to reduction. In size and dimension in this case :)

Spinning

A total of 4 hearts and 4 large interstines and 4 kidneys on the shoulders.
Totally shaken up that the organ multiplication occured. Someone is right at saying that I have a distorted imagination ;)

Pistachio Birdy

A painting of a gift that a friend sent me. I simply love the color pistachio for more than one reasons, which for now I would keep with myself.

Divine

Some facts about the lotus flower
*This plant is an aquatic perennial

*A common misconception is referring to the lotus as a water-lily. They are two different plants
*The lotus comes only in hues of pink

*The roots of Lotus are planted in the soil of the pond or river bottom, while the leaves float on top of the water surface. The flowers are usually found on thick stems rising several centimeters above the water.
*The lotus is the national flower of India and Vietnam

From ancient times the lotus has been a divine symbol in Asian traditions as a symbol of purity.
Drawing in turn on these beliefs, the international Bahá’í community adopted this symbolism in the design of the Lotus Temple in New Delhi, India

Reaching Out

inspired by AR Rahman's song from Delhi 6
I know it is in an Indian language but I think that you will still be able to enjoy the feel of it.
AR Rahman recently won the Oscar for composing the music of Slumdog Millionaire

Not Yet

A friend recently asked me about my plans to have a baby. I understand that being a mother or having a kid can be the most wonderful thing after marriage ;). I also know that once in a while the genes give rise to a motherly instinct. And this is common knowledge that my parents and in laws are expecting a baby soon. My answer to all such related questions is a simple "Not Yet". The next thing they look for are reasons. Its rather irksome when it comes to explaining people that you are not ready. And it becomes repulsive when one suggests (they may not quite say it loud and clear) that I have got nothing better to do. I am perfectly happy and at peace at this stage of my life with myself and my husband. People might have their own standards and measurement systems for weighing the quality of life. I have my own and I am the best judge to tell if I feel complete or not. People who think otherwise are nasty and all I can tell them is to "Butt out".

Space

I still struggle at times withe usage of colors and amount of color in my paintings. They lack a lot of negative energy which is kind of necessary to bring about a certain degree of freshness and presence. For this one I sat for almost 2 hours and composed it with some of my preexisting drawings.
(PS although inherently I still prefer them to be dark and moody. may be it comes out that way naturally :P)

Halftones

I just learned the technique called halftones. It is being used a lot today especially in T shirt designs. Has gotta retro feel to it. Enjoy it.
The tool that is used in GIMP to create halftones is called Newspaper print. For more details on how to do it etc. feel free to mail me/ comment.
